Courses
The Faculty of Education offers admission at undergraduate and postgraduate level to courses which provide professional qualifications to:
- teach in public and private schools across Australia
- teach English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) and/or other foreign language teaching (FLT) throughout the world
- enhance your established career in education.
Aligned with national initiatives in teacher education, University of Canberra offers a portfolio of courses designed to cover all stages of teacher development and with focused courses in:
- Early Childhood
- Primary Teaching
- Secondary Teaching.
These are combined with units for key learning areas and course patterns for specific subjects such as Science, Technology and Mathematics (STEM), English, Health & Physical Education, Creative & Performing Arts, Design and Technology.
All of our Initial Teacher Education (ITE) courses combine teaching theory and an invaluable practical component and are registered by the ACT Teacher Quality Institute. Students seeking registration as a teacher in another jurisdiction should confirm the requirements with the teacher registration organisation in that jurisdiction. Our TESOL courses offer an excellent balance of practice and theory and equip students with a solid basis in education, linguistics and applied linguistics. Students gain practical knowledge and skills while reviewing the way that beliefs, principles and theories affect teaching. Click here for a comprehensive overview of our TESOL and FLT program.
