Three Minute Thesis
The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is an academic research communication competition developed by (UQ).
University of Canberra Three Minute Thesis heats are held mid-year across the University’s five faculties. Finalists progress to the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø 3MT Final where they present their pitch to a judging panel in front of a live audience.
Competitors aim to convince the judges and audience of their research significance in no more than three minutes, for a chance to win the $4,000 first place prize, $2,000 for the runner up, and $1,000 people’s choice prize.

Orientation
Orientation activities occur at the beginning of each semester. All HDR students are invited. If you would like the opportunity to revisit any of the seminars, presentations, or events please register.
Writing Events
HDR Writers’ Lab
In-Person
Turn your dissertation writing and editing from a solo chore to a social experience! Join your fellow HDR candidates every Thursday morning to progress your research while making new connections.. We buy the beverages so you can focus on the writing! There are three writing blocks (increasing in length as the morning progresses), and two breaks to chat over coffee.
Thursdays 9:25am – 12:00pm
Writing Intensives
HDR Development Writing Intensives are held three times per year, over two full days. They are the perfect opportunity for you to immerse yourself in your writing in a supportive and focussed environment.
HDR Development will encourage you to set a clear, measurable, and achievable goal at the start of each day and share progress at lunchtime and at the end of the day.

Lunch on the Lawn
Would you like the opportunity to meet other HDR candidates without the pressures of a workshop or conference setting?
Lunch on the Lawn is your opportunity to get to know your colleagues from across the HDR community in a relaxed, social setting. Pizza and drinks are provided.
