Learning outcomes
After successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:1. Identify and contextualise the principles of governance and how an organisation develops strategic goals as part of a system of governance that fits the applicable sport;
2. Interpret the broad principles of governance and policy development and how those principles might be applied on an operational level;
3. Identify the steps for an organisation to comply with its legal and regulatory obligations and ultimately ensure it is acting in the best interests of its stakeholders;
4. Critically evaluate the mechanisms and benchmarks for organisational performance and how its board can ensure best practice and measure performance; and
5. Illustrate an understanding of policy development, implementation and methods for evaluating policy effectiveness.

Submission of assessment items
Use of AI is not permitted in this unit.
The University's position is that artificial intelligence services must not be used for assessment or assessment preparation by students unless explicitly allowed in the assessment instructions for an assessment task published with the assessment task and/or in the unit outline. a) its use is authorised by the unit convener as part of the specified task; and

This unit has been designed for students to study in a synchronous manner. While it is possible to complete this unit asynchronously this is not the recommended study option. If you decide to study in this way please make contact with the Unit Convenor regularly.
